Case Studies

At the core of programming are events that giving people in the North East access to great musicians and that also showcase local talent and emerging artists. We primarily work with roots and blues artists, such as artist Rob Heron.

Graham Shipcote first met Rob Heron in 2009 when Rob was still at University studying for a degree in folk and traditional music. A collaboration with Sage Gateshead lead to Rob to forming the Tea Pad Orchestra that Graham would champion through Jumpin’ Hot Club as support acts. He also invited along an agent friend to a Jumpin’ Hot gig who immediately signed the band and moved them on to a national stage. Rob Heron and the Tea Pad Orchestra have since gone on to great success: they continue to play gigs throughout Europe and Asia, even playing Glastonbury in 2015 and 2016.
