We are proud to celebrate a landmark evening at the Journal Culture Awards 2025, where the two founders of Northern Roots, Adam Collerton and Graham ‘Shipcote’ Anderson, were honoured with the Outstanding Contribution Award.
Adam and Graham’s four decades of dedication to grassroots music, cultural advocacy, and community-building have left an indelible mark on the North East. Their recognition at this year’s ceremony is a testament to their tireless commitment to nurturing talent, championing inclusivity, and sustaining the region’s vibrant cultural life.
The evening also brought further cause for celebration, with Kay Greyson – a leading artist within the Northern Roots network – shortlisted for the Best Performer Award. Kay stood alongside fellow nominees Mickey Cochrane and Finn Forster, reflecting the strength and diversity of the North East’s creative scene.
Together, these achievements highlight the impact of Northern Roots’ community of artists and advocates. From grassroots leadership to rising stars, our network continues to shape the cultural landscape of the region and beyond.
